I recently booked a visa appointment for my daughter at Chennai consulate. You need to fill both I-156 and I-157. The problem you are facing may be due to pop up blocking. Disable the pop up blocker for the vfs site. It may work. It worked for me.

This is already IV's number one priority on the goals of this org and we are trying to translate this goal and other goals into legislation.
Remember, everyone in the core group also wants this as this can be the life-saver of every person since EAD allows us to have a safety net after you have finished 6 years on H1.

Thanks guys for all your replies & suggestions. Just to let you know, that I am paying for my whole GC process and I have been with this company since last 3 years. I have already completed one 2 year contract term with them and still they are asking me to sign new contract. To me, this is total blackmailing.
Again ....the risk it totally urs to take.....!!!
I am sure they are doing that so that they can suck u more after applying 485....so at this point even if u tell them it is illegal, they will not budge...

As previously mentioned in this forum, a year back (almost) when my visa stamping had not expired I had approached the MD MVA for my license. Due to a last/first name issue in my passport they declined the DL. Now after going through the name change process in US and India and getting the court order, I re-approached the MVA. After multiple levels of screening and approvals taking full 4 hrs, finally I got my 5 year license this Thursday.
MD license rules changed and there was lack of clarity for everybody some weeks back. Now there seems to be better clarity. Having SSN and i-94 is important as I felt.
If some one is in the same boat, I hope this info helped.

Some in this situation are planning to do the full time MBA from the IIMs / ISB under NRI quota
I am not sure how useful doing an MBA from an Indian school would be if one is planning to get back to the U.S. (or the western world in general) I did mine from IIM Ahmedabad, and find it pretty much worthless here.

I was under the impression that the bill have already died and its very hard that they will get the bill this year. I myself haven't applied my LC yet.
After the seeing the June VB, I am deciding to move to another company which will file my LC ASAP because my current employer is dragging his feet.
can anyone tell me that I should wait or should go ahead and change employer to file my LC, because if the bill's May15th cut-off date becomes effective, then I will have moved for no reason (all is waste)
Your suggestions are highly valued.

As per my understanding, you should not try to travel outside USA when extension application is pending. Because you will be issued with old I-94 no when you apply for extenstion. Your h1b extention approval petetion contains same I-94 no. Now if you travel before it is approved, you wil have a different I-94 issues t port of entry and it does nto amtch your I-94 which is in extension approval.
Then when you apply for green card or further extensions you will face problems because of mismathcn in I-94 nos..This is my understanding..

I had an I-485 pending when my first I-140 was denied. The cases ended up with AAO.
I started a new GC process in PERM and the second I-140 was approved. After approval I noticed a LUD on my pending 485. I called the 1-800 number and asked for the I-140 number underlying my I-485. To my surprise, I was given the receipt number for the second I-140. What surprised me was that the my priority date was not current.
I can only assume that when one has more than one I-140 pending with the same employer (remember that a I-140 with MTR or with AAO is considered to be pending), the first one to get approved gets linked with the I-485. CAN ANYONE CONFIRM THIS PLEASE?
The interesting thing is that the AAO woke from it's slumber and issued an RFE last week. As a result of the RFE, both my I-140 have changed their status and now show "Post Decision Activity".
The quoted post above describes my situation. I140 and I485 were pending. I140 got denied and ended up with AAO. Second I140 got approved and I485 is linked with this 2nd approved I140 even though the priority date was not current.
Called USCIS twice to get the receipt number of the 140 underlying my 485 and got the receipt number for the second, approved 140 everytime.
The company has received an RFE from the AAO and they simply are in no mood to respond to it. They are going to withdraw the first 140. The lawyer retained by my company is absolutely clueless about how and why the second,approved 140 got linked with the pending 485 without the priority date being current. He is trying to play it safe by covering his own behind by saying statements like "USCIS made a mistake and if they every discovered this mistake in future, I will be regarded as being out of status from the day I used any EAD based on this pending 485", He is suggesting that we file a new 485 when the dates being current ( I am EB3/ROW).
Now I know that there are a lot of people who have had their 485s linked to their second, approved 140 automatically. Did this happen to any of you without the PD being current? Please do respond if you are in this boat.
Also, is there a policy or memo that explicitly refers to it? Can anyone please provide me a reference?
If the first 140 is withdrawn? Will it have ANY impact on the second 140 or the pending 485? The reason I ask this question is that after the AAO issed an RFE, the status on both my 140's changed to "Post Decisioon Activity". This is what worries me the most.
Any comment on any of the above questions will be highly appreciated.

Are the locations of your employer and client in the same city, otherwise the LCA submitted at the time of H1B extension becomes inconsistent. I believe your best bet is to file a new H1 if possible, MTR likely looks difficult as your current situation is different from what was petitioned. New H1 being approved may also depend on how big your company is internal project to them for consulting companies to them is synonymous with bench. All the best I believe you need a qualified attorney to assist you.

I have been on H1 for last 3 years and had applied for 485 last july as dependant for my spouse's AOS. My spouse is primary applicant for 485. I have my EAD also. I am worried that I may get RFE if I file for an H1 extension. If I am not able to respond to RFE and my H1 extension gets denied will this affect my I-485 in anyway. .. I think this is an excellent way to carry forward the Gandhigiri campaign.
We should start a campaign, pick a few congressmen (may be from immigration subcomitee, judiciary comittee etc) and every member of IV should print out this pamphlet and hand sign, data, address and send it to these congressmen.
We should also send a sample of the letter to news outlets.
This will help keep this issue in the limelight. Any takers??

I think there is some truth to this poll.
A lot of Americans lost their jobs to foreigners because they are over qualified for those jobs.
Well, when you buy tools for yourself, you buy the cheaper ones that have all the functions that you need, not the most expensive ones that have all the functions, including the functions that you don�t need. The same thing happens to people as it does to tools.
I think most people will become overqualified at some point in their life. The best thing to do after you have become over qualified is to start your own business in the field that you are over qualified for. With the experience you have in that field, you will have better chance of success. If you don�t want to run a business, try investment. With the money you have earned earlier in your life, you should be able to do some investment. If you have invested in real estate, try to make money from the real estate you own.
One should take responsibility for oneself. The government can only take care of the citizens to certain point. Mothers can only breast feed their babies to certain time, and parents can only take care of their children until they are 18. Parents can not take care of you all your life. So don�t expect the government to take care of you all your life, either.

I've tried several times recently to check my status at TSC. Each time I get the same reply, " We do not do status checks any more. Please contact National Customer Service, and do a referral and open a Service Request."

Agree with you - my wife's PERM approval got lost in mail and she had to apply for 140 with an electronic copy as DOL will not issue a new approval notice.
Mine, of course is languishing in BEC.
The inefficiency of DOL is really incomparable - they are much worse than USCIS.
